After many year raising and showing Afghan Hounds and a few more
years with Standard Poodles, I got out of dogs after losing a very special
litter to PARVO. I decided it was too hard to lose them so the safest way
was no dogs.
After 8-10 years of one Maltese named Dancer, a friend in Dallas, from my Afghan days
bought a Havanese. I met this little bundle and decided it was time for me
to get another dog. That was the beginning of JoLain Havanese.
I purchased my first Havanese from Ken & Nancy Martin of Liveoak Havanese. She would become
Ch. Liveoak’s Black ‘N Tango. Tango was the most exuberant pup and I got her
at the worst time for a new puppy. We had just purchased a new house and
started a complete remodeling project when Tango came into our lives. She
wormed her way into everything we did. She took over our home and our
hearts. She was raised on sheetrock and nails and loved everything about it.
It wasn’t long before we got Truman. He originally came here to help build
entries at the shows but he was the sweetest little boy and Tango had such a
great time tormenting him, that he ended up staying. Truman is a full
brother to Tango out of a later litter. He soon became Ch. Liveoak’s Tried
‘N True earning his championship quickly. He and Tango were both diagnosed
with minor heartmurmurs and eventually were both neutered. I was hooked
and soon to follow were Brit, Cory, and finally Maggie. These three will
prove to be my foundation stock. Truman is now living the good life in Philadephia with David Wolf and Mark Gisi. He lives with one of Brit’s pups
out of Tito and is a happy boy. Brit will get her ROM this year (2005) after
producing 6 champions as of Dec 31, 2004. She has been neutered and is in
joint custody with some great people here in SA, Donna and Roger Muse. They
bought two of Brit’s kids and now Brit is in residence and adamant about
staying with Donna and Roger. She visits often, but always wants to go home
with them. We now have two more ladies Ch. JoLain’s Catch a Wave and
JoLain’s Fiesta Del Noche. Wave was returned to us last summer and is out of
our first litter from Brit and Brody. Noche is a pup from Brit’s last litter
and will be shown this spring (2005). Noche is a living breathing monster
who’s greatest joy is annoying all the adults here.
The
newest additions to JoLain Havanese are Splash (Jolain's Splash Across
Texas). Splash is out of Wave and Noah. We are also running on two Cory Noah
kids Thief and Blaze (also know as Mini Me). Rudy has moved to PA and
is now living with Truman and Emma (David Wolf and Mark Gisi owners). Rudy
has two litters on the ground here. Fist litter is out of Noche (owned by
Nancy Gardner). The secnd litter is out of our Maggie. Both litters will be
ready to move to their new home around Labor Day. Maverick has moved to
Tulsa, Ok and is now living with Julie and John Irvin. He shares a back yard
with Zoe owned by pam and Barry Peck. first one is
"Rudy" Liveoak's Rudolph Valentino. He is a bundle of energy at the moment
and has a mouthful of needles. He is ripping coat out of everyone here. He
is a delightful little boy that adores Tony. Rudy is a sable Irish Pied and
will start his show career this fall. Many thanks to Ken and Nancy for
letting this little boy join us. The second little boy is "Maverick"
Northstar's G-Force. He will be here in a couple weeks and we cannot wait to
meet him. He is a gold brindle Irish Pied. He and Rudy should become fast
friends and hopefully give the girls a rest from the hair shredding puppy
teeth.
I live in a small community just Northeast of San Antonio Texas. All of my
dogs live in our home. Tony has an Afghan, Biba and a standard poodle,
Christi. They are both 11 years old and neutered. Additional information on
the Havanese breed can be obtained through the Havanese Club of America.
